Payroll Officer
Location: Liverpool City Centre area
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time


Overview:
Adaptable Recruitment is partnering with a well-established business to recruit a Payroll Officer to oversee the end-to-end payroll process. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage deadlines effectively, and a high level of autonomy. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate payroll operations and compliance with relevant regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and verify employee hours, liaising with managers to address discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with HR to confirm absence records and other payroll-related data.
  • Prepare and input payroll data into the system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Conduct payroll processing, checking outputs against manual calculations for accuracy.
  • Maintain up-to-date employee records in coordination with HR.
  • Generate payment reports and assist with bank transfer reconciliation.
  • Submit payroll information to HMRC in line with RTI requirements.
  • Handle employee queries related to wages, tax deductions, and other payroll matters.
  • Manage pension contributions and liaise with the scheme provider.
  • Monitor and update employee benefits, including medical schemes.
  • Support the improvement of payroll processes, such as salary sacrifice schemes and shift pay structures.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.


Key Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with great attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of payroll software and procedures within a standalone role essential
  • Proven ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive payroll data.
  • Proficient in IT systems, particularly payroll and accounting software.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with employees, management, and external agencies.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure and manage multiple tasks.


Desirable:

  • Experience with remuneration schemes and payroll incentives.
  • CIPP qualification or similar payroll-related certification.
