Standalone HR Manager
Based in St Helens area | Some Travel Required
I am currently partnering with a reputable and growing law firm to recruit an experienced Standalone HR Manager to join their business on a permanent basis. This is a newly created role that offers the opportunity to take full ownership of the HR function, working closely with senior leadership to support the firm's people strategy.
This is a hands-on, generalist HR role - ideal for someone confident managing the full employee lifecycle, implementing best practice, and advising on employment matters across the board. The role is primarily based at the firm's head office, with occasional travel required to regional offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as the go-to person for all HR-related queries and support across the business
- Managing recruitment and onboarding processes in line with firm needs
- Supporting line managers on employee relations issues, such as disciplinaries, grievances, and performance management
- Reviewing and implementing HR policies and procedures in line with current legislation
- Driving initiatives around employee engagement, well-being, and staff development
- Supporting compliance with employment law and sector-specific standards
- Maintaining HR records and systems and producing regular HR reports for leadership
- Delivering HR guidance with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in a standalone HR role, ideally within professional services
- Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- A confident, pragmatic communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
- Strong ER experience and the ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion
- CIPD Level 5 (minimum) - Level 7 or working towards would be a bonus
- Flexibility to travel occasionally to other office locations
What's on Offer:
- Competitive salary and benefits package
- The opportunity to shape and lead the HR function
- A supportive and collaborative culture
- Travel expenses covered
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
- Pension scheme and other firm-wide benefits
