Training & Recruitment Manager


Permanent | Full-time (40 hours per week) | 25 days holiday + bank holidays - Up to £50,000 DOE


As Training & Recruitment Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the full recruitment and training lifecycle - from attracting and selecting candidates, through to onboarding, training delivery, and retention. You'll manage a trainer, ensure professional communication with applicants, and continuously improve processes to deliver measurable results.


This role will suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is motivated by seeing people succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and improve the recruitment process, ensuring a professional and engaging candidate journey
  • Manage and evaluate recruitment channels to attract quality applicants
  • Oversee onboarding and induction to ensure new starters feel welcomed and supported
  • Run the Training School, planning trainee intakes and balancing resources effectively
  • Monitor trainee progress, providing support and interventions where needed
  • Assess training methods, seeking opportunities for innovation and efficiency
  • Develop and report on KPIs, reducing costs per trainee and improving retention
  • Coordinate CPC, route learning, refresher and remedial training, ensuring compliance
  • Build a pool of trainers to cover peaks in demand and holidays
  • Drive initiatives to improve driver retention and long-term engagement

  • Experienced in recruitment, training, or workforce development (transport sector experience is a bonus, but not essential)
