Adaptable are delighted to be exclusively working with a Liverpool based business who is looking to recruit a detail orientated and experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their growing finance team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities


  • Process a high volume of supplier invoices daily in Xero, ensuring accurate coding and appropriate authorisation.

  • Match purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices for three-way matching where applicable.

  • Perform regular supplier statement reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies promptly.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all accounts payable transactions.

  • Ensure timely preparation and processing of weekly/monthly payment runs via BACS.

  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve queries and maintain strong working relationships.

  • Assist with month-end procedures, including ledger close-off and reporting.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and audit requirements.

  • Continuously review and improve the purchase ledger process for efficiency.

  • Support the wider finance team with ad hoc duties as required.


Skills and experience


  • Proven experience in a similar Purchase Ledger / Accounts Payable role.

  • Demonstrable experience handling high-volume transactions.

  • Proficient in using Xero accounting software.

  • Strong numerical and data entry skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.

  • Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
